Mountain Dance & Folk Festival

Swannanoa Gathering

Flacktastic - Roberta Flack Tribute
Date: July 17, 2026 | Location: White Horse Black Mountain
A special tribute to Black Mountain's own Grammy-winning icon, presented by White Horse Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley Museum. Featuring soulful performances by Rhoda Weaver and Leeda Lyric Jones, this evening celebrates the timeless music and spirit of Roberta Flack through the songs that defined generations.
Hellbender by the Orange Peel | Limited inaugural season begins August 2026
Outdoor music gets a new home in Asheville this summer with the debut of Hellbender by the Orange Peel, a new riverside venue along the Swannanoa River. Its first announced concert arrives August 1, led by Rhiannon Giddens, Mavis Staples, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Hurray for the Riff Raff, with more performances to follow during the venue’s inaugural season.
Asheville Comedy Festival

Now in its 18th year, the Asheville Comedy Festival is one of the longest-running and most respected comedy events in the country. Over three nights, more than 30 of the nation's fastest-rising stand-up comics take the stage for packed showcases, industry panels, and workshops. AVL Sounds Fest

The evolution of the beloved AVLFest, AVL Sounds Fest returns with its signature mix of stages, cross-genre lineups, and strong spotlight on regional talent. The 2026 edition is headlined by Dr. Dog and Preservation Hall Jazz Band, with more than 150 acts performing across 15+ indoor and outdoor venues including The Grey Eagle, The Orange Peel, Asheville Yards, and Hellbender.

Connect Beyond Festival
Dates: May 29–31, 2026 | Location: The Orange Peel, Downtown Asheville
Now in its eighth year, Connect Beyond Festival returns to The Orange Peel for three days of music, film, storytelling, and immersive art. The festival brings together filmmakers, musicians, authors, journalists, and activists for curated panels, live performances, screenings, and interactive installations — all designed to spark conversation and build community. The 2026 edition debuts The Community Garden, a large-scale interactive art experience created by talent behind Meow Wolf and Epic Games. All ages welcome.
2nd Annual Carolinas Sketch Crawl
Dates: June 5–7, 2026 | Location: River Arts District and Downtown Asheville
Co-hosted by Urban Sketchers chapters from Asheville, Charlotte, and Greenville, this three-day gathering brings together urban sketching enthusiasts for workshops in the River Arts District, drink-and-draws, a sketch exhibit, an international postcard exchange, and a guided architecture tour and sketching session through downtown.
Asheville Art in the Park — FREE

Art in Bloom
Dates: June 18–21, 2026 (with exhibits running June 1–July 24) | Location: Black Mountain Center for the Arts
This multifaceted annual event combines gallery exhibitions, live floral arrangements inspired by artwork, and a self-guided local garden tour featuring plein air artists painting in each garden. The celebration kicks off June 18 with First Bloom, a sneak peek evening with the floral designers and artists, followed by gallery and garden tour days June 19–21. A second exhibit, Art from the Garden, opens June 26 and runs through July 24. A beautiful pairing of nature and creativity in nearby Black Mountain. The Big Crafty

Western North Carolina’s favorite modern maker market brings hundreds of artists under one roof. Saturday is ticketed; Sunday is FREE.
Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

Nearly 200 craftspeople from across the region showcase work in clay, fiber, glass, paper, wood, jewelry, leather and metal. Live demonstrations and music round out this four-day juried event.

GRINDfest — FREE

A full-day celebration of Black entrepreneurship, culture, music, and community in the heart of downtown Asheville. The festival features the GRIND Business Summit, a Black Business Market, a live pitch competition, and performances woven throughout the day. Free admission; runs 8 AM–10 PM.
Remembering, Honoring & Celebrating Juneteenth — FREE
Dates: Week of June 19, 2026 | Location: Multiple venues throughout Asheville
Presented in partnership with the Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville & Buncombe County and the City of Asheville, this weeklong celebration honors Black history, culture and community. Independence Day Block Party

Asheville Open 2026 Tennis Championships

Held on the 12 clay courts of historic Aston Park, the Asheville Open draws competitive players across professional, age division, and skill-level categories. The tournament benefits the Asheville Tennis Association, a nonprofit whose community outreach programs provide free tennis opportunities for under-resourced youth and adaptive players across Western North Carolina.
