The Flatiron Building
- Named for its triangular wedge shape and carrying the same handle as its taller cousin in Manhattan, the Flatiron welcomes walkers to the entrance of Wall Street, a tree-lined lane of shops and restaurants radiating charm and conviviality. Albert Wirth designed this eight-story office building, faced with limestone, using Beaux Arts detailing. An operator-run elevator still jostles visitors between floors, a salute to triangular life in the big city.
